Marylebone Autism Psychology Practice
A diagnosis that explains a lifetime.
Thoughtful autism assessments for adults and adolescents. Carefully guided from beginning to end by specialist clinicians leading NHS autism services.
We see what others miss.
Senior-led, alwaysYour assessment is designed, led and overseen by senior doctoral-level NHS clinicians, from first conversation to final report. This is our daily clinical work.
Built around youWe begin by getting to know you: your strengths, experiences and circumstances. Every part of your story is weighed with nuance and care.
Rigour you can rely onADOS-2 and an ADI-R-informed developmental history: the same NICE-compliant methods NHS services rely on. All our diagnostic outcomes have been recognised by GPs to date.
Better understanding, whatever the outcomeAn autism diagnosis may or may not be the conclusion. Either way, you will receive a detailed profile, practical recommendations, and a clearer understanding of yourself.
Who we see
You have spent a lifetime adapting. Whether that has carried you or worn you out, something has always felt unexplained.
The professional who has always coped, at a cost
You perform well in demanding roles, yet social effort exhausts you and no one sees the work it takes. Success has hidden the question, not answered it.
The woman told she “can’t be autistic”
You make eye contact, hold friendships and read the room, effortfully. Standard assessments were not built for a presentation like yours. Ours are.
The family seeking real answers
Perhaps a child’s diagnosis raised questions about your own story, or you want a thorough, kind assessment for your adolescent. We guide you through every step.
When coping stops working
The strain built quietly, until it showed: burnout, an interrupted education, a career that grew harder to sustain. Perhaps a fuller understanding awaits.
Why MAPP
A deliberately small practice, built around depth of expertise and experience, rather than volume
01
Depth, not volume
Much of the private market runs on volume: high throughput, newly trained assessors, limited oversight. We are built the other way: a small number of assessments, each given the time and attention it deserves.
02
Experts in what is easily missed
Subtle, internalised and high-masking presentations are our specialism. Our clinicians assess late-diagnosed adults, women and individuals whose presentations do not fit expectations every week in NHS services. We are familiar with how autism looks when it has been hidden well.
03
A contained, guided process
From first conversation to feedback and aftercare, you always know what happens next and why. A screening stage protects you from an unnecessary assessment; a named clinician holds your journey throughout.
04
An outcome you can rely on
Some reports list scores and stop. Ours give you the words to understand yourself. We include a detailed profile of your social approach, communication patterns and thinking style. We share practical recommendations you can act on.
The assessment
A clear path, with one clinician as your point of contact throughout.
1
Initial conversation
A complimentary ten-minute call to ask about our approach and our practice, before anything is booked.
2
Screening and clinical interview
A thoughtful, in-depth interview to understand you holistically, with honest advice on whether a full assessment would be helpful.
3
Structured assessment
Gold-standard observational assessment (ADOS-2) and a developmental history informed by the ADI-R and 3Di.
4
Dual-clinician formulation
Two senior clinicians consider your assessment together before any conclusion is reached.
5
Feedback and beyond
A feedback session, a comprehensive report whatever the outcome, your profile in detail, and routes to further support.
If you have been assessed elsewhere, we also offer independent second opinion assessments →
Every profile is a landscape. We know how to read it.
Our approach
An assessment built around you.
You are the expert on your own experience; we bring the clinical expertise, and the assessment brings the two together. Each stage is explained before it begins, and every conclusion is explained to you in person, in plain language. Our approach is neuroaffirmative and strengths-based: we understand autism as a difference rather than a defect, whilst holding in mind the difficulties and needs that brought you here. Nothing about the process is done to you.
